
One Computer is Unable to Connect to Cable using a Linksys Wireless Adapter (but others can connect OK)
Checking the Wireless Settings Of a Linksys Router:
Use a computer that is working with the router and can access the internet
Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer

Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP Address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:
A new window will appear and ask for a "User name" and "Password." Leave the User name
space blank, type in your router's password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.
IMPORTANT:
If the router's password has been changed, type the router's new password instead.
The router's password can be changed by:
If you forgot the router's password, press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds.
Note: This procedure will reset your router to factory defaults. Any settings on the router will be erased. The router's IP address will be 192.168.1.1 and the password will be 'admin.'
Step 4:
Click the Wireless tab.
Step 5:
Take note that the Wireless Network Name (SSID) is the name of your wireless network. Kindly write this down on a piece of paper and make sure you copy it as is, since the SSID is case-sensitive.
Step 6:
Click the Wireless Security tab.
If Security Mode is set to WEP:

Connecting To a Wireless Network Using the Linksys Wireless Adapter Network Monitor:
Use the computer that can't connect to the internet (the one that you are having a problem with)
Step 1:
Run the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor by double-clicking this icon
at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Step 2:
Click the Site Survey tab, select the name of your wireless network or SSID, and click Connect.
Step 3:
If the software is asking for a Network Key, select the
appropriate wireless security option from the drop-down menu and enter your
network key.
WEP-enabled:
IMPORTANT:
Make sure that you enter the EXACT web key that you noted/copied from the router. WEB KEY OF THE WIRELESS ADAPTER MUST MATH THAT FOR THE ROUTER.
Step 4:
After getting a connection, the Wireless Network Monitor
will bring you to Link Information, then click More Information.
Step 5:
Click Save to Profile to save all your wireless settings to a profile.
Step 6:
When the Create connection profile window appears,
enter any name for the profile. We suggest you use a name that describes your
network such as "home", then click OK.
Step 7:
- Turn off your computer
- Turn the computer on again, open the internet browser and access the internet.
You should be connected to the internet now. If you still can't access the internet, please follow the steps below to disable any proxy settings.
Disabling Proxy Settings On Internet Explorer:

Double-click Internet Explorer
and click Tools.
Step 2:
Click Internet Options, then Connections.
Step 3:
Click LAN Settings… and a window similar to the one on Step 4 will
appear.
Step 4:
Make sure that nothing is checked, then click OK.
Step 5:
Check if the computer is online.
Disabling Proxy Settings On Mozilla Firefox:
Step 1:
Double-click Mozilla Firefox
and
click Tools.
Step 2:
Click Options and a window similar to Step 3 will appear.
Step 3:
Click Connection Settings.
Step 4:
On the Connections Settings window, select Direct connection to the Internet
and click OK.
Step 5:
Check if the computer is online.
